Lisa Lehner
Lisa is an interdisciplinary social scientist and health justice advocate working on issues around health inequalities, social marginalization, and welfare state biopolitics. With a background in science studies, medical anthropology, and critical public health, Lisa combines different theoretical and methodological approaches to understand complex health systems questions at different levels and from different angels. She is a true believer in transdisciplinary and participatory research, putting to use her engagement as a health programs directer at a Vienna NGO.
Lisa is one of the Co-PIs for HPVienna, as well as for the project “LESS IS MORE?” (2023-26) on the (de-)prescribing, circulation, and use of antibiotics and benzodiazepines in Vienna, and for the project “LISTEN-IN” (2025-27) on systemic inequities for people who experience homelessness and live with cancer diagnoses. Lisa holds a PhD in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University with a minor in Medical Anthropology. She has held positions at the University of Vienna, Cornell University, the Medical University of Vienna, and the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research.
Lisa teaches a lot at different universities on health, healthcare politics, medical ethics, and social equity. In her free time, Lisa sings and boxes.
