Mariella Jordanova-Hudetz
With a degree in Public Administration, Mariella began working as an interpreter at AmberMed in 2011, taking over as Director in 2021. AmberMed offers medical care, social counseling and medication assistance to people without health insurance in Austria. In her role, Mariella represents the perspectives and rights of people without insurance in the Austrian healthcare system on numerous committees. She gives lectures and training courses, for example at the Medical University of Vienna and the Chamber of Physicians. Engaging AmberMed actively in project and research partnerships, Mariella is specifically committed to improving healthcare for people without health insurance in Austria: for example, with the pilot project “Social Prescribing” (2021/22), the EU Horizon 2020 project “CANCERLESS” (2021-23) in cooperation with the Medical University of Vienna, and currently with the project “LISTEN-IN” (2025-27). Together with other non-profit organizations, she has specifically campaigned in recent years for basic health insurance for children in Austria. With AmberMed, she also won the Austrian State Prize for Voluntary Work and Commitment in 2024. In her free time, Mariella enjoys traveling and pursuing her passion for photography.
