Martin Bicher
Martin’s research focuses on agent-based simulation models, specifically population modeling and epidemiology. He is the head developer of the GEPOC population model at TU Wien, which, among many other applications, was used heavily to simulate Covid-19 and counsel various national crisis boards during the pandemic. He is a member of the European Scenario Hub of the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC) and works as advisor of the National Vaccination Committee and the BMSGPK for the evaluation and comparison of vaccination programs and interventions.
He completed his PhD in Mathematics at TU Wien in 2017, where he has since worked as a post doc in a variety of research projects in the fields of health systems research, epidemiology and transportation. In addition to his employment at the TU Wien, he has been working at dwh GmbH since 2013 as IT expert for consulting services with modeling and simulation and AI. He also acts as an active bridge between research and application with the aim of finding synergies between research and application and combining state-of-the-art methods with current problems.
