Nikolas Popper
Main research interests are theory and applications of modelling & simulation of dynamic and heterogenous systems, especially: comparative modelling & simulation; coupling and comparison of mathematical model approaches; implementation, parametrization, calibration and validation concepts and domain and application integration of simulation models and Health Outcome Research. Niki Popper is Senior Scientist at the Reserach Group Data Science and at the Research Group Computational Statistics of TU Wien, director DEXHELPP (Decision Support for Health Policy and Planning) former COMET Projekt, key Researcher at VRVis and CSO TU Spin-off dwh GmbH. He was founder of “die Drahtwarenhandlung” Science Productions & Data Journalism and Founding President ISPOR Austrian Chapter. He is member of SMDM (Society for Medical Decision Making), EUROSIM (Federation of European Simulation Societies), were he acted as Secretary and is Chair of Technical Committee “Data Driven System Simulation”, Board Member and Vice Spokesperson “Methods in Modelling and Simulation” & “Environmental and Geo Sciences, Medicine and Biology” at ASIM (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Simulation - Simulation Society of German Speaking Countries). He is and was member of scientific and strategic boards (e.g. MONID - Modeling network for severe infectious diseases, Austrian School of Government, Oberster Sanitätsrat im österreichischen Gesundheitsministerium, Gesamtstaatliche COVID-Krisenkoordination (GECKO)). He was awarded with the Gerhard Bruckmann Preis 2021, Österreichische Statistische Gesellschaft and “Austrian of the Year in the Category Research 2021” by Die Presse/ORF.
